Dr. Lisa Shaw, D.V.M., C.C.R.P.
Dr. Shaw graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She was a visiting instructor in the Anatomy Department at NCSU-CVM from 1996-1998. She moved to the Charlotte area in 2001 and practiced at Sharon Lakes Animal Hospital. She then spent three years at Carolina Veterinary Specialists on the Emergency and Critical Care service. Dr. Shaw was certified in Canine Rehabilitation in 2004 at the University of Tennessee and opened Carolina Canine Rehab Clinic in November 2004. Dr. Shaw and her husband, David J. Grindstaff, also own and operate Continental Boarding in southwest Charlotte. Dr. Shaw’s free time is spent with David, her two children, Nic and Reese and their five dogs. Special interests include pain management, rehabilitation, geriatrics, and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Heather Wyss, BVSc
Dr. Wyss was born and raised in Long Island, New York. She and her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1992. She attended college at North Carolina State University where she received a bachelors degree in Zoology. From there she joined the United States Air Force as a Communications Officer from 1998 to 2002. She went on from there to pursue her love for animals by attending the Veterinary College at Massey University in New Zealand. She graduated in 2006 and moved back to Charlotte. Dr. Wyss spends her free time with her fiancé, hiking, mountain biking, and loving on her dog (Horace) and cat (Hooligan).

Dr. Stephanie Everidge

Nancy, Veterinary Assistant
Nancy was born and raised in New York. She has been a veterinary assistant for over 25 years in the Charlotte area, including as a surgical technician at Carolina Veterinary Specialists. Nancy joined ILAH in February 2008. She has experience in all areas of the hospital, with special interest and training in surgery, anesthesia and dog behavior. Nancy enjoys spending time with her husband, James, her grandson Lucas, photography, dog training (agility and obedience) and watching Carolina Panthers football. Her furry crew consists of three dogs, Tinker and Harley (Min Pins) and Ace the doberman, plus Tommy the cat.

Elizabeth, Veterinary Assistant
Elizabeth was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. From a very young age she has fostered a love of animals of all kinds and has enjoyed working with pets in the veterinary setting for many years now. Her areas of special interest include surgery, dental care, and rehabilitation therapy.

Lacey was born and raised in Southern Maryland. She moved to Charlotte area in 2008. Shortly after her move, she started in the veterinary field and has been in it ever since. She has always had a love for animals. She has 2 dogs Laylaa and Remi. Her hobbies include spending time with her daughter and husband, watching football and spending time outdoors.

Ross has been a vet tech for over 12 years. Working with animals is her passion in life. She shares this passion with her 8 year old son, Keiran. Ross is always willing to foster kittens when needed. She has failed as a foster a couple of times which blessed her with two precious cats, Myrtle and Mae. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her son, reading, puzzling, hiking and washing her cares away at the beach.

As a lover of animals her entire life, Barbie Parker enjoys working with dogs and cats in the clinical setting but also delights in time spent riding horses. Her areas of specific interest include rehabilitation therapy and senior dog care. She is an experienced technician committed to providing exceptional care to pets and further educating their owners to create a partnership of lasting trust and compassion. Additionally she is a devoted wife and mother of two, balancing her time between work and school activities.

Kayla is a native of Lancaster, SC and a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School. She began working in the veterinary field in late 2012 but took a break to join the SC Army National Guard. After graduating one station unit training in February of 2014, she returned to the veterinary field and continued working as a treatment and surgery assistant. Kayla joined our team in early September 2015. She has a special interest in all the “lumps, bumps, and abscesses” of veterinary medicine. On her off days, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Kristin, and their 2 dogs, Dusty and Brody, as well as their 2 cats, Avery and Lt. Dan (nubs).

Cheri comes to our facility with 12 yrs. experience working at Animal Emergency and Trauma Center in Charlotte. Cheri worked with Dr. Shaw during her ER doctor days and Dr. Wyss during her technician days while she attended veterinary school. Cheri lives in Charlotte with her husband, two daughters, four dogs, five cats and a turtle! (Yes, Cheri is crazy) When not taking care of the four legged babies, Cheri loves watching her daughters play softball, horseback ride and go on scuba adventures!

Karen was born and raised in Connecticut. She recently moved to North Carolina in January 2016 and joined the Indian Land Family a week later. She graduated from Delaware Valley University in Pennsylvania with a degree in small animal science and conservation. She shares her home with 2 dogs, 2 cats and a chinchilla. Along with her love of animals, she has a passion for travel.
