Dr. Lisa Shaw, D.V.M., C.C.R.P. Dr. Shaw graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She was a visiting instructor in the Anatomy Department at NCSU-CVM from 1996-1998. She moved to the Charlotte area in 2001 and practiced at Sharon Lakes Animal Hospital. She then spent three years at Carolina Veterinary Specialists on the Emergency and Critical Care service. Dr. Shaw was certified in Canine Rehabilitation in 2004 at the University of Tennessee and opened Carolina Canine Rehab Clinic in November 2004. Dr. Shaw and her husband, David J. Grindstaff, also own and operate Continental Boarding in southwest Charlotte. Dr. Shaw’s free time is spent with David, her two children, Nic and Reese and their five dogs. Special interests include pain management, rehabilitation, geriatrics, and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Heather Wyss, BVSc Dr. Wyss was born and raised in Long Island, New York. She and her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1992. She attended college at North Carolina State University where she received a bachelors degree in Zoology. From there she joined the United States Air Force as a Communications Officer from 1998 to 2002. She went on from there to pursue her love for animals by attending the Veterinary College at Massey University in New Zealand. She graduated in 2006 and moved back to Charlotte. Dr. Wyss spends her free time with her fiancé, hiking, mountain biking, and loving on her dog (Horace) and cat (Hooligan).

Heather Mirman, Receptionist Heather was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Charlotte in 1997. She attended college at the University of South Carolina. Heather started working for our sister company, Continental Boarding, in 2007. She gradually started taking on hours at ILAH until she became a full time employee. She is well known by our clients for her outgoing personality. You can find her on her days off spending time with her dogs, Marley and James and her cat, Finnigan. She also enjoys whitewater rafting and catching up on her favorite reality shows.

Ashley Purser Min, RVT Ashley was born and raised in Matthews, NC. Straight out of high school, she realized her love for animals and jumped feet first into veterinary medicine. While working as a Veterinary Assistant, she attended and graduated from Gaston College in May 2005 with her Associates in Veterinary Technology, later passing the national and state boards to become a Registered Veterinary Technologist. Post graduation, Ashley taught as a laboratory instructor in the Vet Tech Program for a year before returning to general practice. She joined ILAH in January 2009 and the rest of the staff, along with the clients, fondly know her as the "tall one." Her passion is not only for helping animals, but developing trusting relationships with their owners as well. In her free time, you'll find her on stage singing with her two sisters in their band "Gal Friday," playing volleyball or relaxing at home with her husband, Jay, and their 2 adorable dogs (Harlie and Moe) and 4 mischievous cats (Hemi, Halo, Sax and Johnson.)

Nancy Sandifer, Veterinary Assistant Nancy was born and raised in New York. She has been a veterinary assistant for over 20 years in the Charlotte area, most recently as a surgical technician with the Carolina Veterinary Specialists. Nancy joined ILAH in February 2008. She has experience in all areas of the hospital, with special interest and training in surgery, anesthesia and dog behavior. Nancy enjoys spending time with her husband, James, photography, dog training (agility and obedience) and watching Carolina Panthers Football. She has a daughter Jessica and a grandson Lucas. Her furry crew consists of three dogs, Tinker and Harley (Min Pins), and Ace the Doberman.

Micki Thompson, Veterinary Assistant Micki was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. She began her Veterinary Assistant work 20 years ago. She works full time at Dr. Shaw's rehabilitation clinic, Carolinas Canine Rehab and part-time for ILAH. Her special interests within the clinic are educating clients on physical fitness and diet. Micki works as a horse trainer and participates in horse related competitions on the side. She says that she feels fortunate that her animals allow her to live in their home. She has 8 cats from Maggie to Bernie and 2 dogs, named Lilly and Ollie.

Ross Gilchrist, Veterinary Assistant Ross was born and raised in Matthews, North Carolina. She attended Western Carolina University where she received her bachelors degree in Sociology. She has worked in the animal medical field for over 7 years. Ross joined ILAH in October 2009. Ross has experience in all aspects of the hospital and has a passion for helping homeless pets find a forever home. She spends her free time with her little boy, Kerian, reading, scrap booking, and catching up with friends and family.

Danielle Shearer, Veterinary Assistant Danielle was born in Chicago and moved to the Charlotte area in 1998. She attended Virgina Tech where she received her bachelors in Animal and Poultry Science. She began working in the animal medical field in 2007. She recently joined ILAH and has become a valuable member of our team. Danielle shares her home with her two dogs, Buffy and Turbo and her 10 birds (too many to name). Her hobbies include volunteering at the Carolina Raptor Center, traveling, and belly dancing.
